June News - Filly broken in

Our Dr Johnson filly has completed her education in flying colours.

Robert Whitten who did the breaking in has reported to Brett that she broke in extremely well and handled everything asked of her.

In view of the fact she broke in well and was deserving of a good rest Brett has sent her straight for a spell down at the Waroona agistment property of Carey Smith, along with about half a dozen of Brett's other yearlings.

She will remain there for around 10 weeks before coming back to Brett's for more educational work and hopefully at the completion of this a jump out at Lark Hill before going for another spell.

Brett has reported that not being a robust filly he has decided to rug her during her spell to keep her warm and help build up strength and some more body mass. The vet has also given her some injections which will help with that. Hopefully she will build up a bit over her spell.

Some other news worth mentioning is that her 2yo brother, a grey chestnut by Akhenation under the care of Bernadine Dudley has been apparently jumping out well at Larkhill. As yet unnamed it is rumoured to have some ability and could be hitting the trial and/or racetrack very soon. I will be keeping an eye on this horse's progress as any success it has will naturally enhance the broodmare prospects of our filly.
