April Update

Our filly is still enjoying her time out at Benjomar Park.

A few weeks ago she picked up a small cold, which can happen with young horses in paddocks, but should be over that now. Otherwise she is doing fine.

Brett has told me she will be the last of the horses to be broken in, given that she is likely to not start racing until 3yo and a later maturing horse. This will probably be in about 2 or more months time.

Some more about our trainer Brett Pope

taken from http://www.ascotbloodstock.com.au/

Brett has been a fully fledged trainer since July 1 2007.

Prior to this, Brett managed the racing stables of one of the best trainers of his day, Bill Pope, his father and mentor. As stable foreman for Bill Pope, Brett forged the impressive record of 17% winners and 40% placegetters from 136 starters in the 2007 season. When Bill retired at the end of the 06/07 racing season, Brett's intimate knowledge of the stable and its horses allowed him to continue with that record into the 07/08 season.

His stats to date are 77 starters for 10.4% winners and 32.5% place getters.

Brett's stables are on Racecourse Road Pinjarra, a stones throw from the Pinjarra racecourse which in itself is a favourite haunt for Pope runners. With such a convenient location, horses have no travel time to the track, instead they walk there. Facilities are complete with a 25 box complex, walking machine, rural training surrounds with access to grass and sand tracks at Pinjarra.Brett's eye for confirmation and ability were demonstrated via his choice of Solidwickedcruel for stable clients at the 2005 sales, a purchase of just $10,000. To date, Solidwickedcruel has amassed eight wins and eight placings from 22 starts and in excess of $175,000 in stakemoney.

He's young, passionate and history shows he knows his horseflesh.
